California Privacy Statement
This California Privacy Statement supplements the Privacy Policy of YSTW LLC, doing business as YSTW and You See The Works (“YSTW,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
It provides additional information for California residents about our handling of personal information and available privacy choices.
Rights described under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CCPA”), apply where YSTW and the relevant processing are subject to that law. Other privacy choices may be available through our website regardless of whether a particular statutory right applies.
1. Personal Information We Collect
Our collection depends on how you interact with our store. The categories associated with the shopping and marketing services we currently use include:
| Category | Examples | Purposes |
|---|---|---|
| Identifiers | Name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, IP address, and online identifiers | Orders, account administration, customer support, security, and marketing |
| Customer records information | Billing and shipping details and payment transaction information | Processing purchases, delivery, returns, and recordkeeping |
| Commercial information | Products purchased, viewed, or added to a cart; order and return history | Fulfillment, support, store improvement, and relevant marketing |
| Internet or network activity | Website visits, browsing activity, referral information, and interactions with advertisements or messages | Analytics, troubleshooting, advertising measurement, and marketing |
| Approximate location | General location inferred from an IP address | Regional store functions, analytics, security, and advertising |
| Customer communications | Messages and photographs you provide when contacting us | Responding to inquiries and resolving order issues |
| Inferences | Product interests inferred from shopping or browsing activity | Personalizing content and marketing |
Payment providers process payment credentials under their own practices. YSTW receives information needed to administer the transaction.
We do not request birthdays, government identification documents, or precise location as part of our ordinary shopping and marketing activities. Please do not send unnecessary sensitive information through customer-service channels.
2. Sources of Information
We obtain information:
-
Directly from you when you purchase, subscribe, create an account, or contact us.
-
Through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies used on our website.
-
From Shopify, payment processors, shipping providers, and other providers supporting our store.
-
From analytics and advertising services, including Google Analytics and Meta.
-
Through interactions you choose to have with us on social platforms.
3. How We Use Information
We use personal information to fulfill purchases, manage returns, provide support, maintain accounts, operate and improve the store, prevent fraud, measure advertising, and communicate with customers.
Where permitted, we also use shopping and browsing activity to personalize marketing and send reminders about products or abandoned carts.
We may retain or use information to meet legal obligations, maintain business records, resolve disputes, and protect legal rights.
See our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy for more detail.
4. Disclosures to Other Organizations
We disclose information as reasonably needed to providers supporting our operations, including:
-
Shopify for storefront, checkout, analytics, email, and related services.
-
Payment and fraud prevention providers.
-
USPS, UPS, and other providers supporting delivery.
-
Postscript for SMS services.
-
Google Analytics for website analytics.
-
Meta for advertising and measurement.
The information disclosed depends on the service. For example, carriers receive delivery details, while analytics and advertising tools may receive online identifiers and activity information.
Information may also be disclosed when legally required, to address fraud or disputes, or in connection with a legitimate business transaction such as a merger or acquisition.
5. Sale, Sharing, and Advertising Choices
California law defines “sale” and “sharing” more broadly than exchanging information for money.
Our use of Meta Pixel and Shopify Network Intelligence may involve disclosures classified as a sale or sharing under applicable law, including for cross-context behavioral advertising. Depending on the integration and settings, information involved may include online identifiers, device information, browsing activity, and purchase-related events.
You can use Your Privacy Choices on our website to access available opt-out controls. Use Cookie Preferences to manage available choices for nonessential tracking.
Where required, recognized opt-out preference signals, including Global Privacy Control, are processed as an opt-out of covered sale or sharing activities.
Choices may be specific to a browser or device. You may need to renew them after deleting cookies or when using another browser.
6. Shopify Network Intelligence
Shopify Network Intelligence is enabled for our store. Shopify may use information from interactions with our store, other merchants, and Shopify to provide enhanced services, including personalization, performance improvements, and advertising support.
Review the Shopify Consumer Privacy Policy for additional information. You can also visit the Shopify Privacy Portal for choices concerning Shopify’s processing.
7. Email and SMS Information
We use Shopify Email and Postscript to support marketing communications.
We do not sell or share SMS opt-in information or consent with third parties for their own marketing. This information may be disclosed to providers that help operate and deliver our messaging program.
Unsubscribe from marketing emails through the link in a message. Reply STOP to unsubscribe from marketing texts.
Unsubscribing from marketing does not automatically change website tracking preferences. Necessary order and customer-service messages may continue through an appropriate channel.
8. California Privacy Rights
Where applicable, California residents may request:
-
Access and information: Information about the categories and specific pieces of personal information collected, its sources, purposes, and relevant disclosures.
-
Deletion: Deletion of personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
-
Correction: Correction of inaccurate personal information.
-
Portability: A usable copy of information where required.
-
Opt-out: An end to covered sales or sharing of personal information.
-
Limits on sensitive information: Restrictions on certain uses or disclosures of sensitive personal information, where that right applies.
-
Nondiscrimination: Freedom from unlawful discriminatory treatment for exercising privacy rights.
Some information may need to be retained to fulfill purchases, meet legal obligations, maintain security, or resolve disputes.
9. Submitting a Request
Email info@ystwatelier.com with the subject line California Privacy Request, or write to the address below.
Describe the request and provide the email address associated with your interactions with YSTW. Do not include payment card numbers or unnecessary sensitive documents.
For access, correction, or deletion requests, we may verify your identity using information already associated with your account or purchases. An account is not required to submit a request.
Opt-out requests do not require the same identity verification as requests to access personal information.
An authorized agent may submit a request where permitted by law. We may request evidence of authorization and any identity verification legally permitted for that request.
10. Request Handling
We handle requests within the deadlines required by applicable law and will explain applicable exceptions or an inability to complete a request.
Where CCPA deadlines apply, requests to know, delete, or correct are generally acknowledged within 10 business days and answered within 45 calendar days. An additional period may be permitted with notice. Sale or sharing opt-outs follow their own, shorter deadlines.
We generally do not charge for requests. Any exception will be handled only as permitted by law.
11. Subscription Offers and Incentives
YSTW may offer discounts or other benefits for joining an email or SMS list. Offers vary, and the applicable benefit, eligibility, restrictions, and expiration will be disclosed with each offer.
Participation is voluntary. You may withdraw by unsubscribing from emails or replying STOP to marketing texts. Offer-specific terms govern unused or future benefits, subject to applicable law.
Where an offer is subject to CCPA financial-incentive requirements, a separate notice will be provided at signup describing the material terms, information involved, withdrawal process, and required explanation of how the benefit relates to the value of that information.
12. Retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in our policies.
The applicable period depends on the category of information, the relationship with the customer, outstanding transactions or disputes, and legal recordkeeping requirements.
13. Additional California Requests
California residents may contact info@ystwatelier.com regarding disclosures for third parties’ own direct marketing under California’s “Shine the Light” law, where applicable.
These requests are separate from website advertising opt-outs. Use Your Privacy Choices to access available sale or sharing controls.
14. Updates and Accessibility
We may update this statement as our practices or legal requirements change. The revised date will appear above, and additional notice will be provided where required.
If you need this statement in an alternative accessible format, contact us.
